East End Neuropsych is now offering in-office intravenous (IV) ketamine infusions for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and chronic pain conditions. Ketamine acts on the NMDA receptor, producing rapid antidepressant effects — often within hours — for patients who have not responded to conventional treatments.
Ketamine blocks NMDA glutamate receptors, rapidly increasing synaptic plasticity and restoring neural connections damaged by chronic stress and depression. Unlike SSRIs (2–6 weeks), ketamine can produce antidepressant effects within hours.
Adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) who have failed ≥2 adequate antidepressant trials; bipolar depression; PTSD; suicidal ideation (monitored setting); and certain neuropathic pain syndromes. A comprehensive evaluation is required.
Induction: 6 infusions over 2–3 weeks
Duration: ~40–60 minutes per infusion
Maintenance: Monthly or as-needed
Post-infusion: 1 hour monitoring · Escort required
IV ketamine may be covered under Medicare. Coverage depends on diagnosis, prior authorization, and medical necessity documentation. We will verify your specific benefits before scheduling. Private pay rates also available.
We are a close-knit, multidisciplinary team bound by one shared mission: to give every patient the care, dignity, and attention they deserve — exactly the way you'd care for your own family member.
Eric has been in the medical field for over 20 years — from group home administration to clinical director. His goal is simple: to make every day the best day possible for your loved one. He works hand-in-hand with each patient to meet their individual goals and help them achieve optimal mental health.
Eric trained under the legendary Dr. Alan Steinberg for eight years before taking over the practice in 2021. He developed his deep love for the geriatric population through caring for his own grandmother — affectionately called Nana — who traveled to the Taj Mahal in her 80s. Eric sees every patient the way he saw Nana: with unconditional care and tireless dedication.
At East End Neuropsych, no patient is ever double-booked or stacked in exam rooms. Every appointment gets Eric's undivided attention. Outside the office, Eric serves as an officer in the Port Jefferson Fire Department (since 1999) and lives in Port Jefferson with his wife Sara, son Zev, and the beloved office therapy dogs, RoRo and Emily.
Chana received her Masters in Social Work from Yeshiva University Wurzweiler School of Social Work, combined with a certificate in Jewish Communal Service. She brings years of experience across community-based, residential, and outpatient mental health programs — and serves concurrently as a Field Liaison with the Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare.
Chana works from a strengths-based and holistic perspective, understanding that people are complex beings shaped by a lifetime of experiences. She loves witnessing the resilience of her clients and supporting them through complicated times.
Chana spends dedicated time with the family of each new patient to explain the disease process, navigate challenging behaviors, and connect families with the right resources. Family Education Sessions are required for all new patients and are always available on request. Sessions are covered by insurance in the same way as patient sessions.
Stephanie has been working in the mental health field for over 12 years. Her diverse clinical background spans psychiatry, cardiology, neurology, Alzheimer's, and dementia — making her one of the most well-rounded providers on our team. She earned her MSN as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Stony Brook University, where she also trained for a year with Dr. Alan Steinberg.
Stephanie's genuine passion for advocacy and her empathetic approach have left a lasting impact on patients and families navigating complex diagnoses. She works closely with patients and their loved ones to ensure everyone feels supported, understood, and cared for.
Outside the office, Stephanie enjoys reading, cooking, and spending quality time with her husband and son.
Kendall is a board-certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a dedication to the physical, psychological, and spiritual welfare of every client. She holds a BA in Sociology from SUNY Geneseo, a BS in Nursing from Binghamton University, and an MS in Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing — also from Binghamton.
Kendall worked for four years at Mather Hospital's inpatient psychiatric ward with individuals across the lifespan before completing her residency here at East End Neuropsych under medical director Eric Spronz. She has a special passion for the geriatric population and is proud to serve the community she loves.
When not at work, Kendall enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and her pet rabbits.
Lindsey is a dedicated PMHNP-BC with over 12 years of clinical experience in emergency care, intensive care, and psychiatry. She earned her MSN from Stony Brook University, building a strong foundation in advanced nursing practices that spans the most challenging clinical environments.
Her diverse background gives Lindsey a unique, holistic perspective on patient care. She thrives on connecting with patients and fostering a supportive, healing environment. Her clinical expertise combined with genuine warmth makes an immediate difference for the patients she serves.
Outside of work, Lindsey loves spending time with her family and tending to her backyard flower garden — a peaceful retreat that reflects her dedication to cultivating beauty and calm in everything she does.
Kris is the heartbeat of East End Neuropsych's day-to-day operations. She oversees all office needs and is your first call for appointment scheduling, billing questions, and anything that makes your visit smoother. No concern is too small — Kris is always ready to help.
Family is Kris's world. She is the proud mother of three wonderful daughters and can often be found cheering at her youngest's sports games or celebrating the milestones of all three. She brings that same warmth and devotion into the office every single day.
You'll also frequently see Kris walking the beloved therapy dogs, RoRo and Emily, between patient appointments. Her ultimate goal: for every patient and family member to feel completely at home the moment they walk through the door.
Cheyenne is a recent graduate with a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is passionate about supporting older adults, caregivers, and families through life's transitions. She is pursuing a career working with the geriatric population, helping individuals regain a sense of identity, purpose, and confidence as they navigate aging, loss, and other life changes.
Cheyenne is also dedicated to helping caregivers and family members manage caregiver burnout, build coping skills, and provide compassionate care for their loved ones. In addition, she has a growing passion for supporting individuals living with chronic illnesses as they navigate the unique challenges associated with their conditions.
Outside of her professional interests, she enjoys traveling, collecting cookbooks, baking, spending time with family and friends, and her dog, Virginia.
Jade is a Public Health major at Stony Brook University, expected to graduate in Spring 2027. She plans to continue her education and pursue a career as a Physician Assistant.
Before joining East End Neuropsych, Jade worked as an in-home caregiver. Caring for a retired Stony Brook nurse — a patient of Medical Director Eric Spronz for over a decade — inspired her passion for healthcare and reinforced her desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families.
Outside of work and school, Jade enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and fiancé. She loves summer trips to Fire Island, cooking and hosting family dinners, and spending time with her rescue dog, Pearl, who occasionally visits the office. On weekends, Jade and her fiancé take Pearl on car rides and long walks, and visit her favorite person, Kris — East End Neuropsych's Office Manager, Jade's mother, and Pearl's beloved Mimi.
Our certified therapy dogs and the most popular members of the team. They greet every patient with unconditional love and have a remarkable ability to calm nerves and bring smiles to faces of all ages.
We love greeting everyone who comes in! We enjoy being pet but please don't feed us or pick us up. We'll happily try to sit in your lap.
If you're uncomfortable with dogs, just let the front desk know in advance and we'll take our break during your visit. No worries at all!
Both full-grown mixed breed rescue dogs. At home we live with Eric's family and love playing with each other and with Zev.

Dear Patients and Caregivers,
After 33 years of practicing Geriatric Psychiatry, I have decided to retire on October 31, 2021.
You may require ongoing psychiatric/medical care and attention, and you must not delay in finding another provider to take care of you. I am happy to announce that Eric Spronz, NP, who was trained by me and as you may know has worked with me for many years, will be taking over the practice. The other clinicians and the staff will be remaining at the same location as well. I am confident that you will be pleased with the care that they provide. The phone number and location will remain unchanged, and they will continue to accept Medicare. If you choose to be cared for by another practice, please send us a written request for transfer of records including the name, address and fax number of the provider and we will forward the records.
If you have not already transitioned to one of my teammates, you may want to arrange a final appointment with me to discuss your care needs and transfer options. If you would like to do so, please call by August 15.
Thank you for the privilege of being a part of your health care. I have enjoyed this opportunity and wish you the very best of good health in the future.
With warm regards,
Alan L. Steinberg, MD
